Change Story-2

Rupa, from a poor family, was trafficked to Islampur in 2019. After escaping two years later, she returned home pregnant and faced severe depression, stigma, and family abuse. With the help of a CBO social worker, she received mental health counseling and joined Muktangana SHG. Awareness camps and family counseling were conducted to reduce stigma. After three months, she stabilized mentally and joined the ICON group for support. Financially struggling, she trained at Swabhimaan Tailoring Unit and now earns Rs. 4000-5000 monthly. In November 2023, DLSA awarded her Rs. 80,000, but she is appealing for more compensation. Now an ICON Leader, she fights for survivors’ rights and works to prevent trafficking, early marriage, and domestic violence in her village.
